It’s Happening!

First Release

Further to our blog article last week, we’re now amidst phase 1 of the ABS’ rollout of 2021 Census data. The REMPLAN data science and software teams have been working hard to begin publishing the data across REMPLAN Community software and online public-access profiles.  Included in the first reports to be updated:

• Age
• Birthplace
• Religion
• Indigenous status

Updated reports are clearly marked with green “2021 Census Data” badges.

To complement the 2021 Census data, we are rolling out new functionality and reporting in REMPLAN Community.  The first of these new features is the ‘Life Stages’ data level under the ‘Population’ tab ‘Age’ report.

Life stages reporting helps to guide strategic planning and the provision of infrastructure and services across our communities.  REMPLAN Community looks back in time from 2021 to 1991, and REMPLAN Forecast applies the same life stages reporting to look 20 years into the future.

In other news..

The National Skills Commission released its March 2022 quarterly unemployment data last Thursday, and the data science and software teams again responded quickly and published the data to REMPLAN public-access profiles and the REMPLAN Unemployment Explorer on the same day.

The latest data reveals unemployment rates in LGAs across Australia ranging from 51.7% in Kowanyama, Queensland to 0.4% in Ashburton, Western Australia.

At a smaller area level, it is estimated that two-thirds (65.9%) of SA2s recorded an unemployment rate of less than 5%, while 6.2% of SA2s recorded an unemployment rate of 10% or more.

Unemployment rates for SA2s and LGAs across Australia can be viewed in the REMPLAN Unemployment Explorer which also allows users to benchmark the area against other areas in the relevant State/Territory or nationally.
