17 Feb REMPLAN International Economic Datasets now available

Much of our work centres around strategic planning and economic development, with a focus on projects that support positive economic outcomes and job creation in our clients’ regions.

Having a clear understanding a of a region’s economy, the key industries that support local jobs and generate exports, and how the area is changing over time, is essential for any strategic action.

It is also important to understand growth, decline, opportunities and gaps in relative terms.  This is where benchmarking with comparable regions, or successful places which represent an aspiration for your own area, is so valuable.

What are their strengths relative to my region?

What are our comparative strengths?

Are there opportunities for increased trade and investment between our regions?     

However, benchmarking does not need to be limited to Australia and comparisons with international cities and regions can provide additional levels of insight.

You may not be aware but REMPLAN also provides international datasets, mainly to our consulting firm clients to support their overseas projects.

There are a number of challenges to be overcome when seeking data across national borders including identifying the relevant government agencies and sources of information, navigating access, and in some cases the associated fees.  Finally, the data needs to be compiled and presented in a manner that is relatable to the information we have for our regions.

Can I request REMPLAN datasets for other nations, regions and cities?

The short answer is ‘Yes’.

It costs nothing to contact us to enquire about the availability of overseas datasets!

For REMPLAN Economy datasets, the number of industry sectors and available modules (e.g. tourism) varies from country to country.  However, all REMPLAN Economy datasets, regardless of country or region, present the Overview, Reports, Matrices and Impacts tabs that users of REMPLAN will be familiar with.  Overseas datasets are uploaded to your REMPLAN Economy software and sit alongside Australian datasets.

We are developing a platform to deliver easy access to economic and demographic analysis for towns, cities, regions and nations across the world.

We are doing this because it’s currently not an easy thing to do!

Also, we aim to support the work of our clients in promoting beneficial trade and investment, creating employment opportunities in their regions, and increasing the wellbeing of their communities.

No problem!  For most custom regions – delivery is within one week.

All New Zealand datasets deliver economic reports, industry-by-industry transactions (input output tables) and impact modelling for up to 106 industry sectors.

Does REMPLAN support clients based outside of Australia and New Zealand?

Yes!

There are currently global consulting firms and universities (including Harvard University), accessing REMPLAN to support projects and clients based in Australia and New Zealand.
