Building a Better Region? Let us help!

The fourth round of the Building Better Regions Fund is now open and REMPLAN wants to help! The $841.6 million fund supports the creation of jobs, economic development and building better regional communities. The fund is for regional areas outside of major capital cities across Australia.

For this round, grants of between $20,000 to $10,000,000 are available through two funding streams:

• The Infrastructure Projects Stream: Supports projects that involve construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure
• The Community Investments Stream: Funds community development activities including, but not limited to, new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, leadership and capability building activities

With the severity of drought in NSW, QLD and other parts of Australia, $200 million of the fund has been explicitly set aside for drought-affected regions. Applications will be ineligible if projects are not in a drought-affected location.

As part of the application process, you will be required to provide evidence supporting your claim that your project will be delivered in a location affected by drought. This evidence could include:

• projects located in a local government area that is eligible for the Australian Government’s Drought Communities Programme – Extension (More information available here https://www.business.gov.au/Grants-and-Programs/Drought-Communities-Programme-Extension )
• projects located in a locality drought-declared by the relevant state or territory government
• official Bureau of Meteorology rainfall data indicating an extended period without or significant decline in rainfall
• demonstrated impact of economic and/or employment decline as a result of drought.

REMPLAN has a strong track history of working with our clients to attract funding from previous BBRF rounds and we’ve helped with several BBRF success stories:

• Geraldton Regional Airport Upgrade: $10,000,000 for the upgrade of the airport to allow for operation of larger aircraft.

• Emerald Airport General Aviation Upgrade: $1,416,217 for the reconstruction of airport aprons and refuelling area, taxiway and apron widening as well as other airport renewal works.

• Tamworth Tennis Centre: $1,400,000 for the redevelopment and improvement of community and competition tennis facilities for the Tamworth Region including nine championship grade courts, improved amenities and other relevant infrastructure.
