New ABS 2015 / 2016 ABS National Input Output tables

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) publishes Input Output (I-O) tables on an annual basis. I–O tables are part of the Australian national accounts, complementing the quarterly and annual series of national income, expenditure and product aggregates.

The annual updates of the I-O tables deliver new insights into the productivity of industries, as well as the domestic supply-chains between industries and demand for overseas imports. The I-O tables are a key input into REMPLAN’s region-specific economic models, delivering new estimates of:

• Output
• Wages and Salaries
• Local Expenditure / Regional Imports
• Local Sales / Regional Exports
• Value-added.

The industry-to-industry supply chain data in the I-O tables also underpins REMPLAN’s region-specific economic impact modelling capabilities. All economic multipliers in REMPLAN have been updated.

The updated datasets are designated as ‘2017 Release 3’.
