Online Economic Profile Trend Data Update

REMPLAN online economic profiles have been updated following recent releases of new unemployment rates and estimated resident population (ERP) data.

1. Unemployment Rates

All public access REMPLAN economic profiles have now been updated with the latest area-specific unemployment rates. These estimates are sourced from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations’ (DEEWR) Small Area Labour Markets (SALM) datasets.

DEEWR releases SALM estimates on a quarterly basis at the Statistical Local Area level; the latest data is for December 2012, with March quarter data scheduled for release in June 2013. REMPLAN economic profiles present annual unemployment rate from 1998 to 2012 using a four-quarter average estimate.

2. Estimated Resident Population (ERP)

REMPLAN public access economic profiles have now been updated with the latest estimated resident population (ERP) data sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

ABS releases preliminary estimates of the resident populations at 30 June annually for all Statistical Areas Level 2 (SA2s) and Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Australia. The estimates are generally revised 12 months later and final estimates are available after the following census. REMPLAN economic profiles present annual ERP from 2001 to 2012.

To access ERP data via the economic profiles select the ‘Trends’ tab towards the top tight of the screen, then select ‘Population’ from the sub-menu. Click on the image below to view a live example:
